Courage
Out in the morning
Return in the evening
The rituals of working
Your daily goodbye
Kiss in the morning
Fire in the evening
I know you are listening
Your distant reply
Kiss in the morning Fire in the evening
I know you are listening.....
Waking and sleeping
Providing and feeding
The rythms of keeping
The future alive
A word in the shadows
A dog in the half light
Let go of the fireside
To fledge and to fly
Kiss in the morning Fire in the evening
I know you are listening.....
Burst like a starshell
Collecting the treasure
All that is glitt’ring
In worldly array
The course is winding
Tough but compelling
Turbulence marking
These lines on a page
At the edge of my dreams
With the mountains before me
You want me to soar
You want me to fly
At the edge of your world
And your body exhausted
Takes courage to live
It takes courage to live
You’re broken yet building
Defeated yet winning
Tension of living
‘tween pleasure and pain
You’re caught up in a dogfight
So strong on the inside
So tired on the outside
The falling of rain
At the edge of my dreams
With the mountains before me
You want me to soar
You want me to fly
At the edge of your world
And your body exhausted
Takes courage to live
It takes courage to live
Courage to live
Courage to die
Let Me Awake
Let me awake tomorrow
Snow lies cold, quiet upon the ground
My heart stilled, mixture of joy and sorrow
Change has come, nothing can stay the same
In this house, each will mark the changes
Doors stay closed, look thru a frosted pane
He brings peace, many the days of comfort
He brings truth, many the days of shame
Here she comes, bearing a child to our house
Snow lies cold, there is no other inn
Can we give, offer an empty stable
Can we give, offer her son a home
He will speak, over time and oceans
Mary’s child, Bethlehem’s tiny store
And His mind, filled with ageless wisdom
And His heart, filled with love of men
In this house, each will mark the changes
Doors flung wide, welcome his likeness in
Christmas time, many the days for giving
Jesus birth, many the words of thanks
Let me awake tomorrow
Snow lies cold, quiet upon the ground
My heart stilled, new life started beating
Change has come, enter the dawn renewed
There will be peace...(bringer of peace)
Over our times...(and over the oceans)
Truth in the days...(there will be truth in our days)
Over our seas...and the oceans
Let me awake tomorrow Snow lies cold
Let me awake tomorrow Snow lies cold
Let me awake tomorrow
Oooo.....Snow lies cold
Love
Love.....love.....
How many people must the Lord be thinking of
Love.....love.....
The very nature of
Do we hear His words in vain
About another kind of love
Drowned in sensual song
Turn the fire on
Our poor hearts have gone so cold
Turn the fire on
As our burdened steps unfold
Echo off old walls
Faces hard resolved
Turn the fire on.....
Do we dare to miss the train
Stand in empty space
Look into the man
Turn the fire on.....
Love.....love.....
How many people must the Lord be thinking of
Love.....love.....
The very nature of
Nothing
Nothing is too small
No sparrows flight too short
No story is beyond Him to recall
No one is unknown
No life remains alone
No Sacrifice untravelled by the Lord
Nowhere is too far
No shadow falls too dark
No face escapes the looking of His love
No face escapes the looking of His love
Love.....love.....
How many people must the Lord be thinking of
Love.....love.....
The very nature of
Ruth
Lost and alone, emptiness sweeps over me
Dare to survive, in a foreign land
Gather the grain, harvesting what falls to me
Dare to reach out to a helping hand
I will trust the Lord my God
I will trust the Lord my God
Your home is my home
Your life is my life
Your God is my God
His love will carry me
Your way is my way
Your hope is my hope
Your Lord is my Lord
His love will carry me
Sometimes a door, fear and opportunity
Feeling the strength of each stepping stone
Then I will take, of the love He offers me
Making my way through a life unknown
I will trust the Lord my God.....
(Instrumental)
I will trust the Lord my God.....
I will trust the Lord my God
I will trust the Lord my God
What Could You Be
What did your Momma tell you
Did she tell you what to do and
What did your Momma say you could be?
Priest or pilot maybe
Cook or soldier in the army
What could you be.....
Save me a place, but give me a rythm
I don't want to leave just yet
Say goodnight, but tell me a story
I don't want to sleep not yet
What did your Daddy tell you
Did he tell you where to go and
What did your Daddy say you could be?
Nurse or singer maybe
Teach or farmer in the country
What could you be.....
Save me a place, but give me a rythm
I don't want to leave just yet
Say goodnight, but tell me a story
I don't want to sleep not yet
I don't want to die, the victim of a crime
Statistic of our time, not yet
I don't want to die, in Londons tower of white
Or Pharoahs afterlife, not yet
I don't want to die, on revolution's tide
Beheaded of Versailles, not yet
I don't want to die, in trenches under fire
laying down my life, not yet
(Intstrumental with vocal)
I just want to live, a rythm in my head
While music speaks of Love
I just want to live, while music speaks
I just want to live
Colours Of A Friend
It was meant to be a picture of a painter
Hanging in a gallery or two
But the man who sat so still before me
Thought he was a loner no one knew
He said "no one will send"
So I drew him in the colours of a friend
Yes I drew him in the colours of a friend
The picture sold at auction to a lady
It hangs above her desk and every day
She looks upon the man who sits before her
Dressed in all his colours once again
She forgets, no one will send
Drawing in the colours of a friend
Drawing in the colours of a friend
And now the ladys gone to meet her maker
Before she went she tidied up her room
She returned with the picture to the painter
And now she sits before him very still
She said "no one will send"
So I drew her in the colours of a friend
Yes I drew her in the colours of a friend
It was meant to be a picture of a painter
Hanging in a gallery or two
Now the walls are filled to overflowing
Images of people no on knew
Saying "no one will send"
Drawing in the colours of a friend
Drawing in the colours of a friend
Drawing in the colours of a friend
I was there.....Did you see me.....
I was there.....Did you see me.....
Hold You Close
So we’re getting old
Start to feel the cold
Blankets on our knees
Turning up the heat
Carers at the door
To help prevent a fall
My walking’s not so good
Must get that hip renewed
We will talk about the past
will talk about the past
Football long forgone
Too late for badminton
Bridge club afternoon
Then Keep fit in the pool
I’m ready for the fight
Dressing gown pulled tight
Lead me to my foes
Break out the dominoes
Complain all day about the weather
We watch too much TV together
Presenters mumble they should know better
Think I’ll write an angry letter
These young folk and their strange behaviour
Why can’t they be more like we were
Plastic tray of pills
Treatment for my ills
A paper and the news
A crossword then a snooze
The internets offline
My stairlifts broken down
I’m On hold all the time
Can no one work a phone?
Haircut don’t take long
I’m very thin on top
My barber says I’m grey
I tip him anyway
I’m wiser than before
If only I could recall
The wisdom that I’ve gained
It seems to slip away
We will dream about the past
will dream about the past
I will hold you close
Because you know I love you
I will hold you near
Because you know I love you
